About Joanie O’

My photographic journey began as a teen, reading magazines and studying their photos.  At age 15, I worked two jobs, saving for my first Nikon. After high school, I attended PSU (Pennsylvania State University), where I was employed by UPI (United Press International) as a stringer, providing State College coverage and campus features.  After college, I worked at a photo lab where I was certified operator of one of the first video printers in the country, printing all of the pro studio’s work.

I was then hired to photograph and print for local golf tournaments and the tri-state PGA, where I was fortunate to spend time with Arnold Palmer.

I then began taking photos for WDVE radio, shooting promotions, including billboards, website images, and events. I started doing features and editorial work for a publishing company, then as full time staff photog, shooting on the sidelines at Steelers games, as well as covering hard news such as fatal accident scenes.

I went totally digital with an online city guide, Pittsburgh.CitySearch.com, documenting every local club, restaurant, and sporting and entertainment venues in Pittsburgh, as well as our clients’ website photography.

Most recently, I’ve been busy doing portraits & group photos.

Thank you so much for viewing my website, and I hope you enjoy my sample photos.  It would be my pleasure to discuss your photography needs.
